Verdere x FRIDA Book Cafe
Join us for an evening built around a book everyone seems to have an opinion on right now.
We're sitting down together to discuss Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, the story of Natalie, a tradwife influencer whose picture perfect farm life for millions of followers hides a very different reality behind the scenes, until she wakes up one day actually living it, in 1855, and realises just how far the fantasy was from the truth.
It's sparked no shortage of conversation online, and we think it deserves an evening of proper, in depth discussion, the kind that only happens face to face over good food and good company.
Over a delicious dinner, we'll move through two sessions of deep discussion, unpacking the story itself before turning to the bigger questions it raises about tradition, image, and what it really means to live authentically.
Adding a special twist to the evening, this book club also doubles as a blind book swap too. Bring along a book you've read and loved, we'll wrap it up and add it to a collection of “blind books” from everyone who joins us. At the end of the night, you'll get to choose a blind book from the pile to bring home, a small surprise to carry the evening forward.

Join us for an evening to discuss Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, the hit novel about a tradwife influencer who wakes up trapped in the actual reality of 1855. Over a delicious dinner, we’ll split into small groups for two deep-dive sessions exploring the book's plot and its bigger themes of authenticity. We will finish the night by voting on our next read and doing a fun "blind date" book swap, so remember to bring a beloved book to trade!
